Alexander Zverev had overtaken Medvedev a fortnight ago with his victory at the Olympic Games. This was Medvedev’s fifth tournament win in the last 52 weeks in singles plus the victory with Russia in the ATP Cup and his fourth career Masters 1000 title (C).
