(Jürgen Fritz, 26.09.2022) Novak Djokovic’s Laver Cup win over Tiafoe moves him back up to number three in The True Tennis World Ranking. Auger-Aliassime rises from 14 to 12, Tiafoe from 19 to 17. San Diego tournament winner Brendan Nakashima rises from 49 to 38, the new Metz champion Lorenzo Sonego from 56 to 46.

Alcaraz is the new No. 1 of the world

It’s the youngest No. 1 ever in men’s tennis. 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz beats 23-year-old Casper Ruud 6-4, 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 in the youngest US Open final in 32 years. There are two Spaniards at the top of the world now.

Berrittini passes Rublev, Alcaraz nears top 20, Tiafoe, Cilic and Fritz now in top 30

Matteo Berrittini overtakes Andrey Rublev, who could neither defend his title in Vienna nor the one in St. Petersburg. Jannik Sinner is back in the top ten, Carlos Alcaraz moves very close to the top 20. St. Petersburg winner Cilic and the finalists from Vienna and St. Petersburg, Tiafoe and Fritz, move into the Top 30.

Seven Europeans in Miami quarter-finals: Deep crisis in US men’s tennis

In the first Masters 1000 tournament of the year, the Miami Open 2021, the fifth biggest tournament of the year, a staggering seven Europeans are in the quarter-finals and only one US American: 20-year-old Sebastian Korda. Although more than half of the top European players did not start, the score in Miami is 7-1 for Europe against the rest of the world.
