(Jürgen Fritz, 21.06.2021) The 22-year-old Frenchman Ugo Humbert wins an ATP 500 tournament (D category) for the first time in his career at the grass tournament in Halle. The same goes for Matteo Berrittini at London Queen’s Club. The Italian thus establishes himself in the top eight in the JFB 52 Week Tennis World Ranking and moves closer to Nadal. Humbert rises from 34 to 22 and Queen’s Club semi-finalist Shapovalov moves back into the top 15.

(Jürgen Fritz, 14.06.2021) Novak Djokovic scored a historic win at Roland Garros, has now won every Grand Slam tournament at least twice and remains the world No. 1 in the JFB 52 Week Tennis World Ranking. Daniil Medvedev can defend position 2 with his good performance in Paris, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas rise two places each, Berrittini four. Andrey Rublev, Rafael Nadal and Diego Schwartzman, on the other hand, fall back.

(Jürgen Fritz, 30.05.2021) For just two weeks, Daniil Medvedev was No. 1 in the JFB 52 Week Tennis World Ranking. With his victory in Belgrade, his 83rd title overall, Novak Djokovic has regained the top spot in the world rankings. In Parma, 20-year-old Sebastian Korda won his first ATP title, having previously won two tournaments on the Challenger Tour. Korda rises from 31 to 25 in the JFB ranking, meaning the USA once again has a player in the top 30.

(Jürgen Fritz, 23.05.2021) In Geneva, Norwegian Casper Ruud won the E tournament (ATP 250) with a victory in the final over Denis Shapovalov, in Lyon (E) Stefanos Tsitsipas won his seventh ATP title with a final victory over Cameron Norrie. In the JFB 52 Week Tennis World Ranking Ruud rises from 15 to 13, Shapovalov from 19 to 18 and Norrie from 30 to 25.

(Jürgen Fritz, 17.05.2021) Rafael Nadal won the Masters tournament in Rome (C) for the tenth time with a final victory over defending champion Novak Djokovic. In the JFB 52 Week Tennis World Ranking, the clay court king rises from 6 to 4 with only 8 tournaments played, but Djokovic drops from 1 to 2. The new leader is ATP Finals champion Daniil Medvedev. And his compatriot Aslan Karatsev enters the top ten for the first time.

The points system, which has been heavily modified due to the long pandemic break in play from March to August 2020, is said to be distorting, illogical, unfair and hardly understandable. JFB therefore developed a different scoring system that only takes into account results from the last 52 weeks, is less tendentious, more appropriate and quite simple to understand.

Aslan Karatsev defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Serbia Open in Belgrade last night in his home country – the tournament is organised by Novak’s brother – in the longest three-set match of the year after 3:25 hours 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Karatsev fended off 23 break points and achieved the „biggest victory of my career“.
