With his victory at the Paris Masters 1000, Novak Djokovic moves further away from Daniil Medvedev, who was unable to defend his title, in the JFB 52 Week Tennis World Ranking. Paris semi-finalist Hubert Hurkacz moves up to 8, 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz is in the top 20 for the first time and quarter-finalist Taylor Fritz is the new US No. 1.

In Paris, Novak Djokovic clinches his fifth title of the season and his 37th career Masters 1000 title

The final of the Paris Masters saw the absolute summit meeting of the two best players of the season, who had already met in the finals of the Australian Open and the US Open. This time Novak Djokovic came out on top again, beating last year’s winner Daniil Medvedev 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 after 2:15 hours. This was Djokovic’s fifth tournament win of the year and his 37th Masters 1000 title, making him the sole record holder in this category ahead of Rafael Nadal with 36 C titles.

With his semi-final appearance in Paris, Hubert Hurkacz can move past Casper Ruud, who failed to reach the quarter-finals against Alexander Zverev. 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, who beat Jannik Sinner (10) in the round of 32, breaks into the top 20 for the first time and Taylor Fritz, who knocked out Cameron Norrie (11) in the round of 16, then lost to Djokovic in the quarter-finals, rises from 29 to 23 in the JFB Ranking to become the new USA No 1, ahead of Reilly Opelka at 24 and Frances Tiafoe at 26. New to the top 50 is Australian James Duckworth, who made it to the quarter-finals in Paris.

With his 37th Masters 1000 title, Djokovic has now also taken the lead in the Big Title Kings, razor-thin ahead of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. At the ATP Finals, which start next Sunday (14.11. to 21.11.2021) and at the Davis Cup (25.11. to 05.12.2021), where Federer and Nadal are both not competing, Djokovic could extend his lead here as well.

Mit seinem Sieg beim Paris Masters 1000 setzt sich Novak Djokovic im JFB 52 Week Tennis World Ranking weiter von Daniil Medvedev ab, der seinen Titel nicht verteidigen konnte. Paris-Halbfinalist Hubert Hurkacz schiebt sich auf 8 nach vorne, der 18-jährige Carlos Alcaraz ist erstmals in den Top 20 und Viertelfinalist Taylor Fritz ist die neue US Nr. 1.

Im Finale des Paris Masters kam es zum absoluten Gipfeltreffen der zwei besten Spieler der Saison, die schon im Endspiel der Australian Open und der US Open aufeinander getroffen waren. Dieses Mal hatte Novak Djokovic wieder die Nase vorn und schlug den Vorjahressieger Daniil Medvedev nach 2:15 Stunden mit 4:6, 6:3, 6:3. Dies war Djokovics fünfter Turniersieg im laufenden Jahr und sein 37. Masters 1000-Titel, womit er in dieser Rubrik nun alleiniger Rekordhalter ist vor Rafael Nadal mit 36 C-Titeln.
